My mornings are usually very overwhelming, but I find happiness in being able to provide and serve for everyone in my family. What I see as stress, others might see as their dream. I used to dream about having my own family, and now that I do, it’s easy to forget this is what I asked for. These busy mornings are probably going to be what I miss the most one day. There’s nothing quite like your boys screaming at full volume before the sun even comes up. I never knew it was possible for someone to wake up with more energy than me, but Leo and Luka prove me wrong every morning. Now that we have Bear, that is another opportunity I get to serve in my family. I am looking forward to the day he joins everyone inside. Rescues take time, and it would be irresponsible introduce him now as he needs more time to heal. I am still learning about Bear’s personality and how he reacts to situations. Bear has a several month heartworm treatment process ahead of him that requires absolutely zero activity. I have always wanted to rescue a dog, but there has always been an excuse or reason that kept me from doing it. This couldn’t be a more inconvenient time for our family to take in another pet, but life has a funny way of giving you what you ask for. We have had bear for a week now and he is already a completely different dog than the one we saved from his previous owner. His wounds have all closed up so I decided it was time to try out a bath. This process is new and scary for me, so I couldn’t imagine what Bear is going through. I was pretty confident that trying to wash him was going to be a total disaster, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Just like parenting, we are going to take things one day at a time with Bear. I can’t imagine how anyone could neglect an animal, especially one as sweet as him. Bear still has a long way to go, but every day is another step in the right direction. 🐻🫶🏻 I cannot wait for him to meet the boys and pups. We are slowly but surely acclimating Bear into our home. The first night we brought him home, he was shaking terribly and could barely lift his head off the ground. Fast forward 3 weeks and Bear is already a completely different dog. He truly is one giant teddy bear and the sweetest dog you’d ever meet. Our house can be complete chaos at times with Leo, Luka. And our two goldens. We are going to continue to take things extremely slow with integrating Bear into the family. We decided our older golden, Apollo was the best option to first meet Bear. Apollo is 100% all bark and no bite, and that’s exactly how he was when he met Bear. Thankfully after a couple minutes both the dogs were wagging their tails and happily greeting each other. Hopefully warmer weather approaches soon so we can do some controlled walks with all the dogs. After only a few short weeks, I’ve completely fallen in love with Bear. I still can’t understand why someone would ever treat a dog that way, but I’m forever thankful I have this opportunity to give him another chance at life. I’m truly amazed how a few weeks of love, affection, and general care for Bear has turned him into a completely different dog. The best way I can describe Bear is that he’s a puppy inside an adult dog’s body. He’s clearly never had any form of training, and he has absolutely no idea that he’s 85 pounds (with the potential to be up to 120). I am not exactly sure how his previous owners treated him, but it’s clear he was never cared for in any way. His nails have never been cut, his teeth are entirely worn down, and he has heart worm. Regardless of all that, Bear continues to be the sweetest and goofiest pup. I know that I have a friend for life with him, and hopefully he knows that he will be treated properly with our family. Bear will eventually fit into our crazy household, and he will have our boys and pups to play with. Having kids made me realize that there’s never enough time in the day to get things done. Then, at the same time you can experience days that seem like they will never end. The beginning of this year has been filled with nonstop craziness. Once we rescued Bear, I knew that that things would only get busier. Even though we are hanging on by a thread most days, it’s all worth it. With responsibilities like being a husband, dad, and dog dad… it can be difficult to give everyone the attention they deserve. In most cases, the person I end up neglecting is myself. I find it really hard to take care of myself when I am trying to be there for everyone in my family. I have been trying to find little moments for myself where I can still do things for me. I love this crazy life that @jord_weeks and I have built together.
