I hear you all! Your points are valid. Our points are valid. Yet, it’s complicated. It’s important to hold companies accountable without entirely dismissing the platform they provide for smaller, Black-owned brands to thrive. Supporting our community means we have to find the balance between boycott and not backing. Tough times call for thoughtful action, and if you need guidance on how to move forward, Auntie Tab@Tabitha Brown and my Soror Melissa B. @thelipbar are perfect examples of how to channel this energy productively. They’re both offering wisdom on how we can keep lifting each other up during challenging times. It’s not just about canceling; it’s about thoughtful action, reinvestment in our community, and holding these corporations accountable while still needing to amplify Black-owned brands. We’ve got to stick together and strategize. Not move entirely on emotion. Our collective strength is unmatched when we’re intentional. This is bigger than any one corporation, certainly bigger than DT. It’s about keeping our community strong and amplifying Black-owned brands. Let’s keep showing up for these brands and for each other, because at the end of the day, we truly are one. 🖤 *Not my original photo it was shared with me via text.
