Dana called me to tell me that her friend and her gym were collecting hoodies for individuals experiencing homelessness and wanted to do something in Kensington. I was all in and said, “Alright, bet. I’ll pull up with the mobile barbershop and give out some haircuts while you guys do your thing.” When I got to the storage lot, the mobile barbershop’s battery was completely dead probably because of the alarm. But I didn’t let it stop us. We had a productive day, not only putting smiles on people’s faces but, most importantly, connecting with everyone we served. We listened to their stories, shared laughs, and made sure they felt seen and cared for. It wasn’t just about the haircuts or the hoodies, it was about building trust and creating moments of human connection. It was a powerful reminder that even when things don’t go as planned, the mission is always bigger than the obstacles ♥️
