Follow @whatrvdoing for more travel content. We didn’t know exactly what to expect when visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park but were blown away! When we got on top of the dunes, it felt like we were transported into another country. 📍 Great Sand Dunes National Park, ⏳ Tallest sand dunes in North America 💰 $25 per vehicle OR you can pay ahead of time and get a national park pass. Military gets them free! 🥾 It is about 0.7 miles to get to the actual dunes and you will be walking through sand. There are smaller dunes an larger dunes to explore. 🏂 We rented two sand sleds and one sand board from Kristi’s in Alamosa for $60 total. It was the best rated in the area so we opted for it! (If you rent from them on Monday before 4 p.m., they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday so you end up getting 2 days of rental out of it instead of 1! 💨 It can be windy and sand can blow, so I’d recommend a face covering just in case. We didn’t need it until the end of the day when the wind picked up. Also, the sand can hurt your bare skin when it blows hard!
