This is something I dread all year but thankfully it gets easier and easier each time. #fyp #dahlias #tubers #dahliatubers #dahliafarm #flowerfarmer #flowerfarm #winterstorage #growflowers #gardentok #flowertok #dahliatok #howtotiktok
Growing your own flowers that actually last in a vase for a considerable amount of time isn’t always easy, but ranunculus fit the bill perfectly. They have some of the craziest looking seeds/roots (corms), but they are very easy to start, maintain and harvest at the end of the season. Simply soak your corms (either from the store or from your previous collection) for anywhere from 3-12 hours and then plant them about an inch or two down, and space them about 4 inches apart. They don’t love incredibly wet soil, particularly early on in their journey, so just make sure you have some drainage, and you’ll be good to go. You can also start them in seedling trays, and transplant them once they germinate if you want to get ahead in a colder zone, which I did last year as I didn’t know where I wanted to plant the last few. #growflowers #flowergarden #gardeninspiration #gardeninspo #ranunculus #springflowers #growyourownflowers

If you told me, years ago when I started gardening, that I would be dedicated this much space and attention to flowers I would’ve laughed, but let me tell you why I do: 1. Pollinators - Not all flowers, or flowering vegetables, attract or feed the same sizes and varieties of pollinators, and as such it’s important to have a wide variety in your garden. I have everything from a wide variety of native bees, to butterflies, hummingbirds and more in my garden on a daily basis, and I’ve seen a massive increase as I’ve added more flowers. 2. Ease - I might get in trouble for this but flowers are easier than growing vegetables, and while I love aiming for abundant harvests I also enjoy growing things that don’t need much maintenance. 3. Beauty - Seeing the wide variety of colors both in my garden, and in my house when I harvest them, brings me joy, and in contrast to buying flowers that came from hundreds if not thousands of miles away I can be proud that they came form my small organic urban garden. #flowergarden #pollinatorgarden #growflowers #zinnias #ranunculus #gardeninspo #fallflowers #springflowers
