✨MAGNOLIA BREWING UPDATE✨ Exciting news for San Francisco beer enthusiasts! Magnolia Brewing, a cornerstone of the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood since 1997, has reopened its doors under new local ownership. Founded by Dave McLean in 1997, Magnolia Brewing became a pioneer in San Francisco's craft beer scene. In 2015, the brewery filed for bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by New Belgium Brewing in 2017. Earlier this year, New Belgium, a subsidiary of Japanese conglomerate Kirin, sold Magnolia to a local trio: bar owner Kevin Kynoch, 21st Amendment Brewing alum Brandon Phillips, and former Magnolia manager Brian Reccow. Magnolia Brewing reopened on December 5, 2024, and brewing operations have resumed in the basement's seven-barrel system, with plans to reintroduce classic house beers by January. Additionally, new styles, including light ales and lagers, are in development under the expertise of head brewer Jon Taylor, a former Magnolia cook who rose through the ranks to lead the brewing team. Beyond beer, the new ownership has expanded the beverage menu to include a selection of cocktails, aiming to create a welcoming destination for everyone. The food menu features pub favorites such as sliders and salads, catering to a diverse clientele. Magnolia Brewing has long been a cultural hub in the Haight-Ashbury district, a neighborhood rich in history and vibrant community.
