I have learned the hard way that the universe is teaching me that space is an opportunity for growth. Heartbreak is an invitation for me to learn how to do my own work. What is my work? My work is learning how to love myself. How do I do that with the tools the universe provides? Through nature, engaging in activities I love, and, most importantly, identifying and releasing stored pain and emotion. We have a natural tendency to run away when we feel uncomfortable emotions, but what if we didn’t? What if we got curious and learned from them? Pain is one of the greatest teachers of all. The pain I experience in this moment of my life is teaching me to be a safe space for myself. What would you do if a loved one were in pain? You would hold them close, so why don’t we do the same for ourselves? If we can learn this lesson and master it, it will make us better people. We will escape toxic relationships more quickly and thrive in healthy ones. We will no longer be co-dependent. We will become whole and meet everyone around us from a more authentic place. That is exactly what heartbreak and pain are teaching us. Do the work, and watch yourself heal. This lesson is for me, and I know it might resonate with others, so I thought I would share.
