Hey friends! I just wanted to give you all the update I know you guys have been patiently waiting for and I don’t want to make you guys wait any longer because I know how much you all care for me and my family and you guys have been a big part of my heart journey. Monday I met with the heart transplant team as well as my congenital heart doctor and they decided to admit me into the Cardiac ICU this Sunday. They need to run more tests and procedures on me due to everything that is still going on. I am holding on to a lot of fluid, my prosthetic aorta (TAVR) is severely leaking and is cutting through the wall of my aorta. My heart and lung pressures have been extremely high and once my lung pressure gets to a certain number I’m no longer a candidate for a heart transplant that number is 6 and I am at a 4. The doctors would like to replace/repair the aorta completely but with my heart being so weak some are unsure if I’ll make it through the surgery and if they will be able to successfully remove me from bypass. The option of them going through my groin to do a TAVR in TAVR would be a safer option however with the prosthetic valve already cutting into the aortic wall they are nervous that any more movement on it can make it tear through that wall and then I would be rushed into emergent open heart surgery. In the meantime my congenital cardiologist, heart transplant team and valve replacement specialist will be coming up with the safest option for me and while I wait in the hospital they are going to work on moving me to a higher priority status on the heart transplant list. Thank you for your patience and giving me some personal time with my family to take this all in and spend quality time with those I love before I go back to the hospital. I’ve had an extremely hard 4 months physically, mentally and emotionally.
