West of Eden is out now. This was a very personal record, and is a lot different than the other two Hell’s Enemy albums. West of Eden was my way of channeling a very specific feeling that I’ve had for most of my life. Being in America, I feel disconnected from my heritage. This rootless feeling has intensified over time, as my country has degenerated rapidly in recent years. We have virtually no culture here, aside from shameless hedonism, poison food and mindless leisure activities. Having recently converted to Catholicism, I feel spiritually at home, but I still carry a secret grief within myself. The Welsh call this feeling hiraeth, and this album is the result of that. I’m not sure how many of you will be able to relate, but perhaps you can enjoy this album as a sort of somber and meditative experience.
