Just your reminder that we ALWAYS want to get baby upright, snug, and at kissing height (on front) after nursing has ended. For those unaware, there has been a recent case that has come to light of a baby that passed while in a carrier. The baby had been nursing and after finishing remained in the same position. The parents were distracted as so many of us are and the worst happened. The reality is, having baby down low and not in a safe upright position unless actively nursing (and you are actively paying attention) can have devastating impacts. The reality is we get distracted. There is so much going on as a parent and it is easy to find yourself concentrating elsewhere. So, if you are not actively nursing- even if your baby has fallen asleep and you don't want to wake them, PLEASE put them back upright into a safe position. I've heard from people before that they like to just leave baby in position because they don't want to wake them, but the consequences of not doing so can be life-ending. This is especially the case anytime in the newborn period and why nursing during that time should be a hands-on and attention on activity. Some people may want to just skip nursing in the carrier during that newborn time in general as it does need to be attentive time. And one more reminder- breastfeeding in a carrier combines two skills that should be mastered before attempting to combine and work on a new skill. Get the basics down, get familiar with your carrier and how to nurse your baby outside of a carrier and then work on putting them together. Here I am using the new @ospreypacks which I got at @rei - I have it linked in my stories and I have a recent post with a mini review and an easy way to comment and get links if you want to check it out. Using the @explorewildelore pullover for easy nursing access and comfort on my part (truly a phenomenal piece- linked into breastfeeding clothes.) #breastfeeding #baby #newbornsafety #babywearingmama #hikingmom #outdoormama

When my brother and I were younger I had such fond memories of roadtripping with my parents, my mom especially. She also sent me to Guatemala quite often, I’ve had the itch to travel and hike ever since… I hope I can give my boys those sweet memories too #babytravel #family #Hiking #hikingmom #travel #adventure #Outdoors #familyfun #roadtrip #roadtripwithkids #outdoorlife #babycarrier #babyhikingcarrier @Osprey Packs
