✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist at BuilderBrigade.com Placing your tub on mortar is an older technique that kind of fell off (at least from what I see around here). It helps give the tub a solid base to reduce flexing. Most of these fiberglass tubs have a bounce to them where mortar would have fixed the issues. They also make foam that can be used instead of mortar but I’ve never seen it personally. What are your thoughts with Tub on mortar.. This monitors the water entering your house so if you’re gone and it detects water being used, it will automatically shut off. You can also monitor the water usage. @moeninc 2- Drain pans Get a drain pan under the dishwasher, fridge, washing machine, and most importantly ice makers. Those things are prone to leaking. You can go with a trench drain pan that connects to an in-ground drain line or the old trusty pan that redirects water to the front of the appliance. @Killarneymetals 1 - Smart Devices There’s a ton of smart devices to add to your house but my “can’t live without devices” are: Thermostat - because I’ll be damned if I come home after a trip and my house is a blistering 68 degrees. The other is automatic shades, seriously once you get them you can’t go back. Smartwings are the budget ones I have now even though they’re still pretty pricey. But once I hit it big, I’m going with the Lutron shades, they’re super nice. If you look closer, the lack of insulation is not the problem. (this pic was taken before they finished)   The ruler was lowered a couple inches lower than it should be. So after they finish blowing the insulation there would be less insulation overall.   2-3” across the entire ceiling of this home adds up to 480 cubic feet!   @DerekFlett caught this early and immediately brought it up to the contractor who fixed the ruler placement and blew in the agreed depth of insulation.   I’m adding this to the Checklist!
