I don’t speak Spanish but this song spoke to me — and when the spirit of dance speaks, I listen. So I did a little research. “NUEVAYoL” serves as a tribute to New York City and its vibrant Latin culture. The track samples the 1975 salsa classic “Un Verano en Nueva York” by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, connecting past and present musical expressions. Through “NUEVAYoL,” Bad Bunny honors the cultural and historical significance of Nuyoricans, celebrating their identity, community, and ability to find joy despite challenges. Resilience, identity, community and joy is what I felt when I heard the song and what moved me to create to it. I spent a few hours in the studio right before class, letting the music guide me. Then during class I saw @domenickstevens_ dancing and slaying the combo. I knew I had to compliment his energy. Impromptu, I pressed play, we both stepped onto the floor, and magic happened!✨ Thank God, New York, dancers & @stepsonbroadway for making spaces where creation, joy, freedom, love, diversity & community can all exisit. It’s what @thejasonwilliamsexperience is all about! Thanks again for the twirl, Dom! 😉You’re a star!🕺🏻🕺🏾🪩⚡️🤍 Choreographer: @thejasonwilliamsexperience Dancers: @domenickstevens_ & @thejasonwilliamsexperience Song: @badbunnypr Videographer: @christianwhanphotos Studio: @stepsonbroadway
