Learning to read and follow directions is a vital skill for first graders to master! By understanding and following instructions, students build confidence, independence, and self-management skills. This essential skill also lays the foundation for future academic success, helping students to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and effectively. #firstgrade #teachingtips #teachercoach #instructionalcoach #classroomoftheelite #elementaryteacher #primaryteacher #teacher #blackeducator #iteachfirst #teachertiptuesday #teachertips #teachertiptok #teachertip
Directions: *What’s My Word? A Fun Vocabulary-Building Game!* *Objective:* To practice reading, writing, and sharing vocabulary words in a fun and interactive way. *Materials:* - Index cards - Headbands or clips - Journals or paper *How to Play:* 1. Each student writes a word they know how to say and spell on an index card. 2. Students wear their headbands or clips with the word visible for their peers to see. 3. Students rotate around the classroom, visiting each other’s desks. 4. At each desk, the student reads the word on their peer’s headband and writes it down in their journal. 5. If a student encounters a word that has already been written in their journal, they don’t need to write it down again. 6. The game continues until all students have visited each other’s desks and collected a variety of new vocabulary words. *Variations and Extensions:* - To add an extra challenge, set a timer for each rotation or limit the number of words students can collect. - Encourage students to use context clues or ask their peers for definitions if they’re unsure about a word. - Create a classroom “Word Wall” where students can post and display their collected vocabulary words. #teachersofinstagram #classroomoftheelite #elementaryteacher #teacher #primaryteacher #firstgradeteacher #teacherssupportteachers #igteachers #teachersfollowteachers #teachercoach #instructionalcoach #tiktok #tiktokteacher #thursdaymotivation #secondgradeteacher #thirdgradeteacher #lowerelementary #teacher #blackeducators #teachertiptok #tiktokteacher

5 steps l'd take to transform my classroom behaviors… But first... Save this video so you can come back to it when you are ready to implement each step! Now here's what l'd do... 1. Identify routines to target Why? Students thrive on structure, and we can tighten up the parts of your day that are driving you crazy by building in a structured routine. 2. Get clear on what you want each routine to look and sound like Kids need clarity and thrive on predictability. Get clear on what you want them doing to the minor detail and communicate it to them so it can be repeated every time. 3. Model After you tell them what you want, SHOW them. Act out the routine for them and ask them for feedback. 4. Practice and repeat. Have students practice the new routine you’re establishing, and make them go back and do it again if they don’t do it “correctly”. Hold them accountable. 5. Hold yourself accountable I tried incentive systems and bingo boards in my room but the game changer didn’t happen until I followed through with modeling and practicing. It feels awkward but I’ll help you! Everyday I work with teachers in their classroom or via social media to make their classrooms function so their students can learn and they can go home less stressed and overwhelmed. If you’re all in on your 2025 classroom reset, check out my patreon in my bio for my classroom management workbook where we will plan your reset together. If you’re still wrapping your brain around this, follow for more and come back to my page for tips when your class is feeling like chaos. I’ll be here! #classroommanagement #instructionalcoach #teachertok #elementaryschool #middleschool #highschool
