Have you ever seen love in imperfection, in guilt, in disgust? Have you watched the hatred and horror of your country claw itself from the very bowels it was birthed? This week, David Lynch’s family asked for us to meditate in his honor today. As a child, I grew up in a cult that worshiped meditation. As an adult, I honored David’s request. I saw that; maybe in the darkness, we crawl- through the blood, the puss, the disgust, and the dishonor. Through this thick miasma, we create, and we find each other. Through David, I’ve found friends; I’ve found love; I’ve found the ability to express the anger and the resentment that seems to invade every pulse, every second, every breath of my existence. Yes, perhaps, there is a true, unyielding, authentic love- flowing through us all— maybe we see it best through flashes of light shimmering through the sheer skin of our eyelids. Yes, perhaps one person can infect us all— through violence, through love, through art- and I, and you will crawl through the belly of darkness. David Lynch did that for me. I will fight, through violence, through love, through disgust, to the very very end for what I believe is the unyielding love of the human- the spirit that binds the most wonderful of us together. I hope you can hear me. I can see decency, honor, and love- in you. Alpha pattern for face: 169450
