Ren and Zach, parents who attended Kids on the Offense: Power Over Bullying Workshop with their child this past November, share about the difference the workshop’s conversations and activities made for them as parents and for their child. Kids on the Offense is designed for families to participate together so that families leave with a set of tools to approach unpleasant / harmful situations and interactions with agency and as a team. We cannot stress enough the value of Zach and Ren’s active participation and we acknowledge their family for taking a stand to empower themselves. Because bullying interactions and situations are usually nuanced, when families have the shared vocabulary and frame of reference that Kids on the Offense provides, they are able to navigate what are often confusing, hurtful and complex situations powerfully. The workshop is fun! And it has kids and families engage in what they are dealing with in their lives, not a concept of bullying. The inquiry that families participate in supports kids to learn the kind of lessons that make the most difference and build the skills that we want all our children to have; self advocacy, resilience, awareness, and compassion.
