proprioception is the sixth sense! it’s essentially a sense of where your body is in your surroundings— and it goes hand in hand with interoception, which is the sense of your internal body states such as pain, hunger, or the need to urinate. having polyneuropathy for me means that i experience pain, numbness, autonomic dysfunction, and as described in this video, a disturbed perception of where my body is and how to get it to do what i want. this makes dancing, walking on uneven terrain, navigating tight spaces, and many other things difficult.
