World cancer day is to bring awareness and encourage screenings. Never thought I would be one of the cancer stats. I have just recently been diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma. I had a lumpectomy on January 9 and will be starting radiation middle of February. Watch for any changes in your breast. My nipple changed color and when I lifted my arm there was a dent (concave) in my breast shape. I had no idea those were symptoms of breast cancer. I was extremely nauseous and kept fainting due to the nausea. Watch for the signs. Did you know that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. The 5 year survival rate for cancer diagnosed at the localized stage is 99%. Get your yearly mammograms (or whatever alternative). Do your self exams each month. Early diagnosis can make all the difference.
