This painting came to me during the long taraweeh prayers of Ramadan, when I would often lose focus and forget the weight of standing before Allah. I began to imagine myself approaching a creative visual of Allah’s Throne, taking steps closer to find shade beneath it. But the closer I got, the larger and more magnificent the Throne became. By the time taraweeh ended, I still hadn’t reached it. The next day, I would start that journey again, and with each step, the Throne would grow grander and more intricately beautiful. No matter how close I got, it was always just out of reach, leaving me excited to continue my journey the next day. Since then, I’ve used this technique in all my prayers, reminding myself that the dedication and focus I put into my prayers today will make it easier on the Day of Judgment—a day that will feel like thousands of years under a scorching sun, carrying the weight of all our worldly deeds as we wait for Allah’s final judgment. When this idea came to me last Ramadan, I thought I had learned about this from the Quran. Later I realized it was actually based on a Hadith but still wanted to incorporate it into this series. This painting captures the grandness & mercy of Allah’s Throne on the Day of Judgment, where His shade will be the only refuge. The Throne’s Edge: The painting shows the endless expanse of Allah’s Throne, glowing with celestial light. This painting captures a humbling glimpse of the edge of Allah’s Throne (only an imaginative representation of course), an immense and overwhelming structure that dominates the entire canvas. Its sheer scale and divine presence convey an overpowering sense of majesty, making everything else appear minuscule in comparison. The People: Small, fragile figures are scattered across the canvas: 7 in total. Some are walking tirelessly towards the shade, faces filled with determination and hope. Others have already reached it, their postures showing deep gratitude and relief. This artwork is more than a visual experience-it is an invitation to reflect, to strive, and to seek a place under the Shade of Allah’s Throne on a Day when there will be no other shade but His. 🔗 Link to the painting is in my bio 💕
