Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) is a common spinal condition that can cause severe pain, mobility issues, or even paralysis. Nobody really talks about how difficult post-surgery care is for spinal cord injuries. Six medications multiple times a day, UTIs, constant bed pad changes, expressing her bladder, feeling like you can’t leave the house, the list goes on and on. I wanted to give an update on Luna. She is able to walk and has regained use of her back left leg. This is fantastic. The bad news is that after surgery, she never regained the ability to use the bathroom on her on terms. She is double incontinent and requires bladder expression. She has a nasty UTI and is on two antibiotics for it. She’s also on a compounded medicine to help her use the potty on her own, but it’s not helping. She goes back to her neurologist this Thursday. The bills continue to flow in, so I’m sharing her GoFundMe again (link in bio) in the hopes of being able to continue care for Luna. She has come so far and made it through surgery, I hate that this is what is holding her back.
