President Trump sparred with Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) on Friday over his executive order barring transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. The two had traded barbs over the past day over his order that could pull federal funding from schools and other organizations that refuse to comply. The president singled her out at a White House gathering of governors, asking if she would comply. “I’m complying with state and federal laws,” she said. “We are the federal law,” he shot back. “We’re going to follow the law,” she said. “You’d better comply,” the president warned. “Otherwise, you’re not getting any federal funding.” “We’ll see you in court,” she replied. “Good, I’ll see you in court. I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one,” the president said. “And enjoy your life after governor because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”
