I was utterly overwhelmed with the amount of Tokyo food recs I saw on TikTok. So as an incredibly harsh food critic, here are the spots that are worth your money. Some are viral spots, some are Tokyo staples reserved weeks in advance, and some are simply neighborhood restaurants we stumbled into. Overall, don’t stress too much about making a Tokyo food plan. You’re not going to have a bad meal here. Unlike Times Square tourist traps, every single meal in Japan is meticulously crafted with the best ingredients…even if it is in a touristy area. Also, a travel rule of thumb—if a spot is filled with locals, it’s generally very good. Long lines are commonplace in Tokyo for trendy food spots, but they’re not a prerequisite for damn good food. Do you agree with my picks? What would you add? #tokyofoodguide #tokyofood #tokyofoodrecs #tokyo2025 #tokyotrip #tsukiji #tsukijifishmarket #tokyoviral #whattoeatintokyo #tokyoeats #tokyomeal #flipperscafe #japan2025 #japan #japantourism #japantrip #japantiktok #japantok #tokyojapan #tokyojapan🇯🇵 #bestfoodintokyo #varsityreader
