Replying to @Sara S. 🚅 If you’re traveling to Japan with kids and plan to use the rail system here’s how my family and I did it and step by step on how to purchase a kids discounted ticket at the station. Quick rundown of the rules: 👶🏻 Kids 0-5 ride free 👧🏻 Kids 6-11 get half off the adult fare 👩🏻 Kids 12+ pay full price For our family of four (with a 16-year-old and an 8-year-old at the time), we decided to install the Suica card on Addy’s phone since she had to pay the adult fare regardless. This made things super easy. We only had to buy Audrey’s half-price ticket as we went. The ticket machines are straightforward, with a board above them showing fares. Just find your stop and buy the ticket that matches the displayed fare. ✨Sometimes, fares are shown as two numbers (adult & child), but most of the time, it’s just one. ✨After selecting your language, make sure to hit the ‘kids’ button if buying a child ticket (as shown in this video) I did try to get a Child Suica pass (which automatically applies the child fare), but multiple locations were out when we were there. That said, this method was still easy and quick! Japan’s rail system is super efficient! I hope you found the how to get a kids sucia card helpful. #japanwithkids #familytraveljapan #travelwithkids #japanrail #familytravel #japantraveltips #tokyowithkids
