Kaak Abou Arab was a favorite 😋 Recipe: Combine 3 ½ cups of flour, 2 tbsp powdered milk, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp instant yeast, and ½ tsp salt in a large bowl. Gradually add 1 cup of warm water and ½ cup of vegetable oil while kneading for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Transfer the dough to a large bowl, cover it, and let it proof in a warm spot for 2 hours. Once doubled, punch it down, divide into four portions, roll into balls, and let proof for another 30 minutes. Prepare coating bowls: one with half-and-half, another with wheat bran and sesame seeds. Flatten each dough ball, dip in half-and-half, then coat in the sesame-bran mix. Roll into an oval shape, cut out a small circle at the top for the kaak shape, and let rest for 30 more minutes. Preheat your oven to 500°F and place kaak the kaak on parchement paper. Bake for 5-7 minutes until puffed and golden. Don’t overbake! Enjoy warm with zaatar, sumac, or cheese!
