Hold your nose and try to say M or N. You can’t! It’s because you need your nose to pronounce those letters which is why the vowel sound changes slightly before M or N… because it needs the nose to say those 2 sounds. Some kids do this naturally, and some need this explained explicitly. Replying to @J Mechelle Why memorizing sight words doesn't work: I've mapped the Dolch Sight Word lists by sound, and out of 220 words, only 36 have irregular parts. Most words follow regular spelling patterns! 🔠 Kindergarteners need to focus on phonemic awareness and letter recognition to build a strong alphabetic foundation. With this, they can decode high-frequency words and tackle irregular spellings in first grade, without relying on visual memorization, which is not helpful for the reading brain. 🧠 #phonics #readingskills #sightwords #literacy #earlylearning #phonemicawareness #alphabeticprinciple #kindergartenreading #firstgradeteacher #scienceofreading #teachingtips #readingdevelopment
Replying to @Katy Johnson2955 This is WILD. Not every kiddo is going to learn to read in only 2 weeks. But we can make letters simpler and learning them faster for every kid. #preschoolreading #kindergartenreading #toddlerreading #homeschool #earlylearning #litletters #learntoread #scienceofreading #lettersounds
Free phonics guide link in bio! If you want to teach your child that they can read anything, then start with reading cvc words. Wondering if your child has learning to guess or actually learned to read? Try these nonsense words. If they can read these, they are ready for tricky words. #kindergartenreading #preschoolreading #litletters #toddlerreading #earlylearning #homeschool
