We’ve watched in horror these past couple days as communities have been ravaged by fire. Marc and I have been checking in with loved ones as they navigate this nightmare. As much as I’ve tried to shield my children from it, they’re very aware of what’s happening. 💔 Our hearts are with everyone impacted by these fires. We are so sorry you’re facing such unimaginable loss. Our family is no stranger to wildfires and the lasting scars they leave on communities. We were in Chico during the Camp Fire that consumed the canyon I grew up in and an entire beautiful town filled with friends and family. Last year, the Park Fire destroyed my teenage home. In 2023, we were in Hawaii as the Lahaina fire tore through Maui, devastating so many lives and erasing generations of history. It’s gutting. Today, as we watch yet another fire unfold, our hearts are breaking all over again. Max and Juni are deeply worried for everyone suffering and feel sad—and scared—that this keeps happening. I don’t know what to tell them anymore. I’m proud of Max for putting his feelings into this piece he created today. It was on his heart to share this today. Juni joined him this morning, singing along as he practiced. Their little acts of compassion and emotional processing give me hope, even in moments like this.
