Idaho votes to #ban gay marriage. I reacted tonight with emotion. Yes! I’m tired of fighting for basic rights. But tonight I realized that we aren’t changing minds by yelling and screaming at the other side. I think the best thing for us to do to change hearts and minds is to pull back the hate and to show people, real people, our hearts. LGBTQ people are some of the best people I know. We’ve beat the odds. We overcame our own hate, and survived the crazy judgement of the world since we were young! Yelling and screaming hasn’t helped us change the narrative. Maybe we try love. Loving and forgiving the other side. Very few of them hate us. They just don’t understand us. Maybe we become the change we wish to see in the world, and show them our hearts. I believe that MOST Americans are balanced and fairly centered in their beliefs.
