Usually, I pride myself on handling high-stress situations well, especially when it comes to parenting. But this morning, I was completely caught off guard when my 5-year-old daughter discovered her first loose tooth. I grabbed the camera to capture the moment because we were so excited (okay, I was in shock). But as the reality of it all hit me, my emotions started pouring out. I normally try to keep it together and save my ugly crying for the bathroom, but this time I wasn’t prepared. Watching the video back I cringed hearing myself say things like, “I can’t handle this,” or, “I wasn’t ready for this you’re only 5,” which made my feelings her burden.😭 That’s not the kind of Mom I want to be. I know I’m not perfect, but I always strive to put my kids first, and today I fell short. If you’re a parent, take this as a little heads-up: when your kid hits a big milestone like this, it might hit you harder than you expect. Have a game plan, maybe rehearse a few calm and supportive lines (because I didn’t).😅 We’ve all recovered now, and everyone’s excited again, but wow—parenthood really knows how to humble you.🥴
