So this is my 9yr olds First time camping and also our dogs First time camping/vacation with us. I was trying to keep them both calm. Just wanted to share our experience and see if any other kids on spectrum are afraid of storms and if you have any other ideas for us on this trip. We leave tomorrow but I am eager to Learn ALWAYS. My son doesn’t like loud sounds and was very scared being in a tent during a Thunderstorm. Our dog usually hides under things during thunderstorms, so i tried my best to like cover him up with a towel and make a somewhat shelter. My son didn’t want him under the blanket with him he wanted only me. Where we are camping there’s a walk up terrace that over looks the whole campground and also has a huge awning covering it, which also has a spot to charge stuff. Kayla and my husband got stuck up there during the storm.
