I stand before you as an unwavering advocate for justice and the rights of our childrenāthose who deserve protection, safety, and a voice. My mission to speak out against wrongdoing and fight for the well-being of our youth has come with significant personal sacrifices, but I remain committed to this cause no matter the cost. Recently, I was targeted by a system that sought to silence me rather than deliver justice. Although a jury found me not guilty of trespassingāthe very charge used as the foundation for my prosecutionāadditional charges were pursued to ensure a conviction. This was a deliberate effort to suppress my advocacy and intimidate me into silence. As a result, I served 30 days in Calhoun County Jail, a punishment designed not to uphold justice but to punish me for standing up and speaking out. The actions of the Dearborn police, the prosecutor, and the mayor and the judge represent a coordinated attempt to undermine my work and silence my voice. Let me be clear: they have failed. My resolve to advocate for the children and families of this community is stronger than ever. I will not be intimidated. I will not be silenced. This isnāt just about me. Itās about ensuring that no one in Dearborn is punished for speaking the truth or standing up for what is right. Itās about protecting the foundational principles of free speech, accountability, and justice that every resident of our city deserves. My appeal is underway, and I am confident that truth and justice will ultimately prevail. To those who have supported me during this time, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your belief in this fight fuels my determination to continue this work. To those who seek to silence me, know this: I will never stop fighting for the rights of our children, for the safety of our community, and for the justice that every single one of us deserves. This is not just my fightāitās ours. Together, we will build a community where truth prevails, where children are protected, and where no one is silenced for standing up for what is right. Signed, Hassan Aoun Advocate for Justice and Childrenās Rights.
