Who else does this? Close your eyes and try to imagine what the day was like in this historic place. Running the hoist listening to the bells, the sounds of loud machines running off the steam boiler. The line bringing the cage to surface for loads of ore, lowering it as quickly as possible so that no time is lost. So many components, can’t forget any of it, because like dominoes one fails they all fail. #undergroundminer #undergroundmines #theminersgirl #miningtiktok #minetok

Replying to @divebeforeyoulook - Chris I use Gaia that has a compass in the map. I know a lot of people like On X, but all my stuff has been in Gaia for like 9 years, so it would be annoying for me to switch now. The most important thing you can do for yourself is download the maps for the whole area on North and Sputh Cadys between Baker and Barstow and between i15 to i40. That way you can always navigate out if you cannot, for some reason, go back the same way you came. The other thing we do is use the sattilite imagery layer to see what types of mines are in the area. You can usually see the timber from old buildings on the satellite. Knowing how to read a topographical map is pretty important for off Roading and hiking. I made a lesson for it back when I was working in Death Valley for students to learn this important skill. #offroader #rockhounding #rockhunting #miningtiktok #hiketok
Replying to @The Nerdy Herk it’s not too difficult to find. Third gully on the right. Let me know if you need help before you get out there so I can help you map it out. Please don’t try this in summer. The tall walls act like a brick oven. #aftoncanyon #rockhound #rockhunting #miningtiktok #theminersgirl
Baxter is a favorite among desert rat type people. There is a lot to do in the North Cady Mountains near Baxter such as off Roading, hiking and camping. So much history as well! We found that it is best to explore this area on a day with full sun because you can see agates in the wash better. We kinda start at the beginning, then work ourselves up the wash little by little until the sun is about to set. We have had pretty good success this way. Make sure to bring a chisel and rock hammer too because there are quite a few mines in the area that people like to rockhound at. #rockhounding #mines #miningtiktok #rockhunting #CapCut
Mine exploring is kind of a strange hobby. I used to wonder why people went in old mines. I remember the first time I went in a mine. I didn’t really care for it. It could have been that it was full of rat poo or cactus. Then I realized it was somewhat a thrill after the initial uncertainty takes place. I view it something like opening the doors on an advent calendar. Each drift holds something frozen in time. #minexploring #undergroundmine #theminersgirl #minetok #miningtiktok
This year was difficult for a lot of people. Us included. I have a strong hope that 2025 is going to be an amazing year for us! We have some new content in store for you and I cannot wait to share it with you all! #minetok #minelife #undergroundmining #theminersgirl #undergroundminer #miningtiktok
Pyramid Canyon is the main rockhound spot near the campground. If you go to the campground, you will be able to park there and walk under the railroad trestle. Following the canyon about a half mile in you will come to a gully on the right. It’s pretty large and hard to miss. You will use that as the aces to the top of the mesa. This route can also be used to hike to the end of Baxter Wash if you don’t have 4x4. Make sure to bring a map, everything begins to look the same and can get very confusing. Go on a sunny day to find the agates easier. #rockhounding #rockhunting #miningtiktok #theminersgirl #CapCut
They used these kilns to smelt charcoal to eventually refine heavy metals such as gold, copper and silver. #minetok #miningtiktok #theminersgirl #geology
