Are you hearing noises in your walls or attic? If so, you could have a mouse problem! As a pest control technician and nuisance wildlife control operator, here are the signs you may have a mouse problem. Many times, the entry point for mice is the roof! Mice will climb up the side of a brick home, jump from an overhanging tree branch, entry through a weep hole or even climb up the corner piece of vinyl siding! When hearing scratching noises at night, it is commonly caused by mice. The first place I check is an attic during a home inspection. The pictures above are common finds inside an attic. Trails and holes in the insulation are formed when mice travel the same path between feeding and nesting areas. “Sebum stains” are dark oily stains on areas caused by a rodents body oils, rubbing on areas where they travel frequently as well. The obvious sign of a rodent problem is poop! The occasional dropping is not always sign of an infestation. If we find several droppings throughout an attic, we know we are dealing with a larger problem.
