NYC’s newest gallery ⏰ Nick Cave’s exhibition “Amalgams and Graphts” opens at Jack Shainman Gallery’s new Tribeca location, featuring large bronze sculptures and mixed-media assemblages. The exhibit, which marks the inaugural presentation at the gallery, introduces two distinct series that push Cave’s singular style and vision to an epic realm. 💐 The “Amalgams” series includes three monumental bronze sculptures, including the 26-foot-tall “Amalgam (Origin),” which blend Cave’s body casts with natural forms to create inclusive alternatives to traditional public monuments. 💐 The “Graphts” series introduces needlepoint self-portraits of Cave combined with vintage serving trays, exploring themes of identity, class, and race while inviting viewers to reflect on their own biases and associations. It is the first time Cave has shown his face in his work, although he has incorporated other parts of his body in his work. ⏰ Jack Shainman Gallery’s new Tribeca location is housed in the historic Clock Tower Building at 46 Lafayette Street, a landmark 1898 structure originally designed by McKim, Mead & White for the New York Life Insurance Company. The 20,000-square-foot space features a stunning Beaux-Arts bank hall with 29-foot coffered ceilings, ornate marble columns, and arched windows, transforming a symbol of American capital into a contemporary art venue. ✨ View Nick Cave at Jack Shainman Gallery’s new Tribeca location now through March 15. 🔗 Subscribe to our newsletter for more finds!
