Learning Angus solos is way harder than it may seem. They are so slinky and with so much attitude. It’s also a lot of “roots of rock n’ roll” type licks on steroids- which may fall into the hand nicely on a guitar, but I have to jump all over the neck of the violin to play the same thing- so doing that in a slinky way with attitude isn’t so easy! Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap- AC/DC - Angus Young Guitar Solo- Violin Cover by Nina D Nina’s Notes 🎶: Though I’ve been using the DigiTech Whammy DT pedal for a long time on my touring rig, I recently acquired their Freq Out pedal. I’ve been experimenting with it quite a bit, and I will be putting out a full demo of the pedal soon. In my experimentation, I found JUST the perfect amount of subtle feedback overtones to use in this cover. It’s not easy to achieve a consistent feedback sound on electric violin, especially using amp sims as I do. This pedal is perfect every time, and it saves me from having to use a wild vibrato and bow stroke to get this type of sound. I’ve also used the octave-down feature on the Whammy DT before the final climbing run of the solo, so that I could stay in exact guitar range but still use the open E string as a guitarist would for the progression.
