We recently took a quick trip down to San Diego for Cousin Frank’s Tea Ceremony and enjoyed a few of my favorite SD Mexican Food spots, tried some places nearby, and of course, my aunt’s home-cooked meals. Lots of much-needed quality family time. We had so much fun. The girls wanted sushi for dinner after a few after-school appointments so we checked out Kakuna Sushi because it was close by and was influenced by a few foodie friends that posted about it. Thanks, @cookwithhenny They also advertise affordable and delicious sushi, so it was my justification for having sushi for a weeknight meal! Kakuna Sushi is the biggest sushi restaurant I’ve been to in San Jose. It made me a little uncomfortable with how spacious it was inside, but the 90s music playing was right up my alley and calmed me down. I decided to go big and ordered the off-menu Omakase Box and thought it was super worth it for ~$50. It was big enough to feed 2-3 people IMO. Each small plate contained two thick slices of fresh sashimi, one plate had raw oysters, and one soup spoon of uni. So much good stuff going on! I wish they labeled what each fish was because I’m bad with the sushi names. I love that Taylor enjoys sashimi as much as I do so we enjoyed the box together and still didn’t finish. They also had several dozen roll options, all unique and tasty. I’d come back here. The place is great for groups and the food is fresh and tasty.
