#NorthCarolinaLiving captures the essence of life in North Carolina, showcasing stunning landscapes, vibrant communities, rich culture, delicious cuisine, outdoor adventures, coastal beauty, mountain serenity, Southern charm, creative lifestyles, and local traditions.
Here’s a month-by-month guide to exploring the Carolinas to inspire your 2025 adventures! ✨ ❄️ JANUARY Roan Highlands, NC – This area is absolutely magical during the winter months! I also love visiting in June for the Rhododendron blooms!
🥾 FEBRUARY Walhalla, SC – Such a good time to chase waterfalls and enjoy the peaceful winter vibes of upstate SC! I love Issaqueena Falls, Station Cove Falls, and Yellow Branch Falls.
🌅 MARCH Hunting Island, SC – I adore Edisto Island and Hunting Island!! Visiting in the off-season is so peaceful and relaxing! Bonus: Dogs can roam off-leash at Edisto Beach from 11/1 through 4/30 and are welcome on a leash the rest of the year. At Hunting Island, they’re welcome year-round as long as they’re on a leash.
🌊 APRIL Outer Banks, NC – April is technically the shoulder season, but it’s my favorite time to visit! Fewer crowds, cheaper stays, and comfortable temps make it a dream. Plus, most local businesses have reopened for the season by this point.
🌸 MAY Linville Gorge, NC – Spring blooms bring the gorge to life in May! Hawksbill is one of my all-time favorite hikes, and it’s open! Also, some trails in the gorge are still closed due to Hurricane Helene, so double-check your plans!
🛶 JUNE Lake Jocassee, SC – Summer lake days are the best days, and Lake Jocassee is unbeatable for kayaking, paddleboarding, or just soaking in the views. I snagged a campsite at Devils Fork State Park last summer by keeping an eye on cancellations on the SC State Parks website. Let me know if you've been to any of these spots! 😍 Cheers to 2025 being a year full of adventures! Stay tuned for part two 🤗 Inspired by @voyageswithval :) #northcarolina #visitnc #northcarolinaliving #southcarolina #discoversc #weekendgetaway

Here’s part two to my month-by-month guide to exploring the Carolinas in 2025! ✨⤵️ 🥾 JULY Brevard, NC – Such an amazing place to visit year-round, but July is perfect for chasing waterfalls in this area. Head to DuPont State Forest for classics like Triple Falls, High Falls, and Hooker Falls. You can escape the heat with a dip at Sliding Rock or enjoy mountain views at John Rock! 🌲 AUGUST Nantahala National Forest, NC – Nantahala is an adventure lover’s dream, especially if you love waterfalls! It can get pretty toasty in August and cooling off by swimming at waterfalls is one of my favorite things to do. Some of my favorite spots include Flat Creek Falls, Schoolhouse Falls, and Secret Falls. 🛶 SEPTEMBER Lake Wateree, SC – Lake Wateree is the perfect end-of-summer getaway for peaceful kayaking, fishing, camping, or just chilling by the lake. And it’s just an hour south of Charlotte! Sunrise on the water here is absolutely incredible. Try to get a campsite by the water if you can and make sure to check out the nearby town of Ridgeway if you visit. 🍁 OCTOBER Blue Ridge Parkway, NC – Known as “America’s Favorite Drive,” the Blue Ridge Parkway stretches 469 miles, connecting Shenandoah National Park in VA to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in NC. With over 200 overlooks and countless incredible hikes, it’s the perfect spot to catch stunning fall colors across a variety of elevations! 🍂 NOVEMBER Greenville, SC – Late fall is the perfect time to visit Greenville! Some of my favorite spots include Paris Mountain State Park for outdoor adventures, the Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville for a luxurious stay, The Village Grind for cozy coffee vibes, and M. Judson Booksellers, a vibey bookstore in a historic courthouse. 🐚 DECEMBER Edisto Island, SC – The off-season vibes at Edisto are so peaceful! December is perfect for camping, quiet beach walks, and spotting dolphins. Don’t miss exploring Botany Bay and eating breakfast at SeaCow Eatery. Let me know if you’ve been to any of these spots! 😍 #northcarolina #visitnc #northcarolinaliving #southcarolina #discoversc #weekendgetaway
