the gender reveal đ for the record- the only gender reveal we did with our three sons. we chose private hospital surprises both other times. â¤ď¸ THOUGHTS on gender reveals: I loved this day but its a perfect example of why Iâd argue most kids (and me!) benefit from big news sharedâŚ. privately. 1) I still have no idea who the woman is who walked in the camera line just after we announced demanding a hug. đ¤ˇââď¸ She came with my husbandâs aunt but my husband didnât know who she was and she surely wasnât sober. lol 2) both our boys (and me) feel pressure to be what others expect when being perceived by a lot of people. before the reveal I shared I was afraid I wouldnt be able to feel my authentic feelings with everyone watching us- and while my sonâs responses are adorable & hilarious, I can tell they felt the same. our oldestâs âNOOOOOOOâ was funny but a byproduct of having just run around for an hour getting rowdy with school friends and knowing everyone was watching him after being vocal about wanting a sister. Iâm curious what his response wouldve been in this moment if it were just our family finding out â¤ď¸ and I didnt record the conversation later when he and I spoke 1:1 and acknowledged his desire for a little sister and how he might be feeling about it. he admitted feeling a little sad having got his hopes up for a different outcome but how the curiosity after finding out it was a boy meant that once again, we can feel more than one thing at a time (or 6đ) disappointment and excited curiosity can coexist. â¤ď¸ in hindsight, I mightve have had an adult only reveal or opened the envelope privately as a family before the grand reveal to capture our familyâs authentic sweetness toward the moment but no regrets. it was a beautiful day and I got practice hearing my inner knowing voice- even if I ignored its wisdom, maybe next time i wont. đ We have incredible little dudes and cant wait to meet our newest one! I canât believe heâs almost here đ thank you for your kind words toward our family. we didnt have good examples of parenting so weâre out here guessing and your comments have been so magical.
