1 DAY AWAY!!!! very relaxed today. i love long flights and these feel like core memories for me. i’ve been having a lot of scent reminders today, small things that remind me of what being in Kerala feels like. i thought i’d list some of them in response of Dr Ally Louks PHd thesis on olfactory ethics. from seeing rampant racism towards Indians + Sri Lankans on twitter and tiktok really only based on darker skin color (esp in the south) and the assumed, discriminatory stereotypes relating to smell, the way other Black and Brown communities are disenfranchised by this very concept - this thesis is so important. it’s important to note how subtly we are able to be manipulated into believing that specific communities are somehow more classy, refined, worthy of being invested in and respected all based on sense biases. how these very biases contribute to class/caste division and a lack of empathy and understanding. many scent changes from LAX —> ORD —> DOH —> CCJ. #solotravel #solofemaletraveler #olfactory #scent #travel #kerala
