Jasper and Anastasia’s daughter, Faith, was a planned pregnancy. J & A would always daydream and giggle together about getting married, having babies, all that fun stuff. They were only daydreams, until about a year into dating, Anastasia, seemingly out of the blue, suggested to ACTUALLY try for a baby. Jasper was ecstatic! They had to try MANY times due to Anastasia’s fertility issues, but eventually, she fell pregnant. Anastasia has substance abuse problems. She has since she was a child. During her pregnancy, she tried her absolute hardest not to relapse. This did not last. When Anastasia suggested to try for a baby, it was an impulse decision. She was very excited at the thought of a child, and the thought of Jasper staying with her to raise a baby was reassuring… Now it was becoming a reality, she didn’t know how to feel. Jasper, on the other hand, had never been more excited for anything. He couldn’t keep his mouth shut the moment he found out. Most of the reactions were positive, but his sister, Raven, was a little concerned.. considering Jasper & Anastasia didn’t even live together, and Anastasia has a history of mistreating Jasper. Anastasia was terrified when lots of time passed and she wasn’t feeling attached to the baby, like how she thought mothers were “supposed” to feel, how she was EXPECTING to feel. Before she fell pregnant, she assumed that motherly feeling was supposed to automatically come with the experience, so she wasn’t very conflicted. Months had passed and the fear of the situation overwhelmed her. She did a light drug here and there, VERY sparingly, thinking it’d be okay if it wasn’t too much, unbeknownst to Jasper. She had been holding onto faith that she’d suddenly become enthusiastic, putting on an act for everyone around her, until she couldn’t deal with her emotions anymore. So.. she drank.. and drank… and drank…. Until she passed out. When she opened her eyes, she saw Jasper. He was frantically patting her face and gently shaking her awake. He came to her apartment unannounced (as he often does) and once he saw her passed out, he was desperately checking to see if she was okay. Once he realized she was okay, he paused, and slowly broke down in tears. He covered his face, embarrassed, and defeatedly repeated the question: “Why did you do it?” Anastasia stayed silent, holding back tears of her own.
