____ A brood mare until last year, she & was a completely different horse in terms of personality, including a significant increase in her defensiveness and avoidance. I experimented for the first time with her loose in a round pen. There's about 14 minutes of footage of her making a big mindset shift, but the often overlooked part is learning to recognize the horse's INITIAL try or search when offered a different human experience. I'm sharing the beginning of that initial shift. Notice how subtle the equine's communication and behaviors are. Humans need to acknowledge their feedback, to not miss when the horse is searching and offering a new thought and behavior. Especially from a horse that so easily, (like from me barely moving a hand,) can be triggered into fleeing, mindless behaviors. A challenge is interrupting her "auto response" behavior patterns, which she previously learned had been expected, without causing her to get defensive, and to encourage her to try something new without the anticipation of human reprimand, triggering her to mentally and physically flee. Be aware of one's energy, and potential unintentional pressure created, with their movements to not be going "at" the horse or trying to block movements. Get the brain first, then the body changes. #alternativeHorsemanship #equitacionalternativa #equitacion #horsebehaviour #pasionporloscaballos #horsebehavior
