A peek into our evening routine ✨ On a good night 😅” As a mom and pediatric OT, I’m always looking for ways to keep my kids purposefully busy. Sensory strategies aren’t just about helping them wind down—they help keep them regulated and engaged. Instead of wild chaos, it’s all about creating moments where they can play, connect, and slow down before bedtime. 💛 Every night doesn’t look like this, but when it does, I’m grateful. What’s one thing that helps your evenings run smoothly? #EveningRoutine #MomLifeUnfiltered #PediatricOT #PurposefulPlay #SensoryPlayIdeas #ToddlerLife #KeepingItReal #BedtimeRoutine #IntentionalParenting
Why is putting objects into a container such an important skill for babies? This simple activity helps: ✔️ Build fine motor skills. ✔️ Strengthen hand-eye coordination. ✔️ Boost problem-solving and spatial awareness. ✔️ Teach cause and effect. ✔️ Encourage focus and attention. Most babies start exploring this skill around 9-12 months and master it by 12-15 months. 🧸 To help them practice, offer safe containers and toys, and make it fun by cheering them on! Does your baby love putting things in and dumping them out? Let me know below! ⬇️ 💙 Save this for later! 👋🏼 hi! I’m Marissa. 🦷 Toothbrushing tips from a pediatric OT: ✅ Yes, it’s okay if you need to gently hold their arms to brush those teeth! We do it sometimes, but I try to find ways to go without to make it POSITIVE as much as possible! ✅ Let baby hold the toothbrush and bring it to their own mouth first to get them used to it. Then after you brush their teeth, give it back to them! Try to give them as much control as possible. ✅ Sing a song and/or use sound effects to keep it fun! We like to say “CHH CHH CHH” and my son loves it! ✅ Be adaptable and try something new when needed. Right now my son is obsessed with my mouth, so letting him touch my teeth is a huge motivator for him. ✅ Use a mirror if needed. Getting baby in front of a mirror can help them see what’s going on and make it more enjoyable for them. 👋🏼 hi! I’m Marissa. Save your recipe here 🌨️⛄️ ❄️ Welcome to Taste Safe Tuesday! I’m Akilina, a pediatric OT and mom, and I’ve been sharing sensory play ideas to inspire hours of fun for little ones. Today, we’re making taste-safe snow that’s crumbly, bright white, moldable, and oh-so-fun to play with! Recipe for 1 Cup of Baking Soda Snow: •	1 cup baking soda •	Slowly add water by the teaspoon, mixing as you go, until the snow becomes crumbly but moldable. (Tip: Be cautious—too much water can make it slushy. Add just a bit at a time!) Optional: Refrigerate your snow before play to make it feel cool and realistic, just like the real thing! ✨ Play Ideas: •	Build a mini snowman using simple accessories: dried beans for eyes, mini twigs for arms, and an acorn for a hat. •	Add trucks to “clear the snow” and set up a mini winter construction site. •	Create snowballs and practice hand-strengthening by molding, smashing, and rolling! Storage Tips: Keep your snow in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If it starts to dry out, revive it with a small sprinkle of water. Follow along for more sensory activities, child development tips, and product recs that make life with kids easier (and way more fun). #TasteSafePlay #activitiesforkids #finemotorskills #sensoryplay #SensoryPlayIdeas #MomLifeHacks #IndependentPlay #PediatricOT #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #SnowDayFun #HandsOnLearning #ridesafetuesday

My son’s first word was “moo” and YES animal sounds count as words! Babies start to imitate sounds and can even start repeating simple words between 9-12 months like “mama” “dada “ball” and so on! Spoiler: I’m not a no-screen-time mom 🙃—I’m all about moderation. And sensory play? That’s my jam! From obstacle courses to forts and sensory tables, I love creating opportunities for my kids to play, explore, and stay calm. This is also my first longest vlog-style video, so I’m testing out something new. Have you tried using puppets with your baby? He was a little hesitant about them at first but now he loves feeding them, giving them drinks, and being silly with them! There are SO many more ways you could use these! As a pediatric OT, I am a big fan of puppets for speech development and modeling actions with toys and utensils. 👋🏼 hi! I’m Marissa. Is your little one currently struggling with nighttime potty training? You’re not alone! 👋🏼 Hi, I’m Amanda, a pediatric occupational therapist specializing in early intervention and pelvic floor therapy. I help families navigate potty training and nighttime dryness with confidence! Here’s what you need to know about helping your child wake up dry and confident:  🌟 Nighttime dryness takes time. It’s a developmental process, not something kids can “learn” overnight. Be patient and give their body time. More often than not, your child will develop night time dryness AFTER they are successful with day time dryness.  🚽Support your child. Accidents aren’t their fault, so keep the process positive, encouraging, and shame-free. 🩲 Use the right tools. I recommend Ninjamas nighttime training underwear—they’re up to 100% leak-proof and designed to help kids wake up dry and confident. Nighttime potty training doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right mindset, support, and products, you and your child can make it through this stage with less stress and more ease. Questions?
