Exercise Explained: The Kettlebell Creeper šŸŸ¢A fantastic strength exercise that builds resiliency of your foot and ankle and may improve your running performance. āšŖļøIt mainly targets the soleus muscle, which is the main load-bearing muscle of the lower leg during long distance running. But it also targets the intrinsic foot muscles, quads, and lateral hip muscles as it loads the entire lower kinetic chain with HEAVY kettlebells. ā€¼ļøImportant technique tip: imagine there is a credit card under your heel and hover the hind foot to where thereā€™s just enough space for the credit card to pass under but not any higher than that! šŸŸ¢Goal: 3 sets of 60-120 seconds performed twice within your weekly fitness routine! āšŖļøReach out if you are interested in partnering with me to build a complete routine specific to your needs and personal goals! #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physio #physiotherapist #runningphysicaltherapy #runningphysio #runningexercise #runningstrength #runningstrengthtraining #onlinephysicaltherapy #onlinephysiotherapist #soleus #soleusexercises #soleusexercise
šŸŽÆWhat Youā€™re Missing for Plantar Fasciitis and Foot Pain (My Program Bundle 50% OFF today!) -One of the main things I teach my foot pain patients is how to load properly through the base of the big toe. -In the presence of pain many people roll to the outside of the foot and this can lead to poor foot mechanics and altered foot arch position. -The Tibialis posterior muscle helps create the lift in the medial foot arch. This along with big toe contact are critical for foot health. -Give these 2 exercises a try if youā€™re feeling g stick with foot pain. -āœ…FYI my Performance Bundle (all of my programs) is 50% OFF today! Are ā€œslipped discsā€ fake? This term is widely used in reference to disc injuries, implying something has moved out of place In reality, these discs are attached to the vertebrae above and below them, and they are not freely moveable Instead, what is moving is the inner gel-like substance called the nucleus pulposus This inner gel of the disc is surrounded by a tough outer layer called the annulus fibrosis When the inner gel pushes outwards into the outer layer it can form a disc bulge When the outer layer tears and the inner gel pushes through it can form a disc herniation And when the disc pushes far enough to impact a nerve, it can cause radiating pain into the glute, down the thigh, down the calf, and even into the toes Commonly, there can be numbness or tingling as well when a nerve is affected There are varying degrees of herniation: Smallest: Protrusion Middle: Extrusion Biggest: Sequestration The GOOD NEWS is that based on the current evidence, the larger the herniation, the higher the chance of healing! So this is why you do not want to rely purely on imaging for your disc herniation prognosis, as imaging can provide unnecessary scary narratives and push you towards surgery or injections when it is not indicated. And 97% of disc herniations can be resolved WITHOUT SURGERY through a proper rehab plan! So if you felt: - a pop in your low back - worse the longer you sit - worse bending forward - hard to stand up straight after sitting You may be dealing with a disc injury. But donā€™t worry! We work with this every day, and it is highly recoverable without drugs or surgery, you just need a plan! āœ… Want to learn how to fix your disc injury? Dide we just find a new intervention for chronic low back pain Thereā€™s a lot more that goes into this patient case including the months of work leading up to a night of dancing that he had not done in years but could be there something there either physically or neurologically with the act of dancing that could be help explain the drastic improvement he felt afterwards? Patient Case #11 Shoulder Pain with Bench Press Clinical Pearl: When a patient ONLY has shoulder pain when they do push exercises, it is almost always going to involve a rotator cuff dysfunction. Each case is very individual and each person deserves personalized treatment but Iā€™ve found that a heavy focus on treating and training the rotator cuff and shoulder stabilizers is a great place to start with these patients Typical session: Step 1: Soft-tissue mobilization to prepare the body for exercise - Options: Dry needling, IASTM, active/passive releases, thoracic mobilizations Step 2: Activate the rotator cuff and shoulder stabilizers so they can feel what itā€™s like to have those muscles engaged - Options: (depends on their strength/skill level) Sidelying ER, Half-kneeling High Row to ER (in video), Banded serratus punches (in video) Step 3: Gradually incorporate pushing exercises based on their strength level and tolerance - Options: High plank isometric, incline half-pushups, floor press, Single-arm OH press, dumbbell/barbell bench press If you need a PT who treats people trying to get back to the gym like this, hit me up in the DMs! #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physio #physiotherapy #onlinephysiotherapy #onlinephysicaltherapy #onlinefitnesscoach #fitnesscoach #fitness #shoulderpain #shoulder #shoulderpainbenchpress #benchpress #benchpressing #benchpresstips #benchpresspain #shoulderrehab #shoulderphysicaltherapy #shoulderphysicaltherapist

3 main takeaways from the Regional Interdependence Model: 1. No part of the body works in isolation: ā€¢ This is so often forgotten by many professionals when treating a patientā€™s pain as they ONLY look at the site of pain without thoroughly investigating other regions of the body to determine the root cause of the issue 2. Each body region has a MAIN function it serves the body: ā€¢ If you want to feel better throughout your daily movements and in the workouts of your choice, look at what each regionā€™s main function is, and ensure you are doing at least one thing within your workout routine to address that body partā€™s main function. 3. This is an overly simplified version of how connected the body truly is ā€¢ The concept of how different regions and systems in the body influence each other is very complex and always evolving. Donā€™t stress about not understanding all of it yet (Iā€™m still learning about new things about it every day). BUT if you stay tuned to this page, Iā€™ll try my best to help deepen your understanding of how your body works and how yuou can take care of it on your own šŸ™‚ #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physicalhealth #physicaltherapystudent #physio #physiotherapy #onlinephysicaltherapy #onlinephysicaltherapist #onlinephysicaleducation #fitness #fitnesseducation #fitnesscoach #onlinefitnesscoach #strengthcoach #onlinestrengthcoach #regionalinterdependence
Screenshot or I have downloads enabled. This is from my ā€œliving her best lifeā€ ebook it is packed with tons of mobility drils to get you started to moving your body better šŸ™šŸ¼ While you will get instant results trying this it is only through consistency and progressive overload as well as working the joint capsule that you will sustain and improve your results so that you KEEP your new range of motion things I've been showing you scapula CARs for one. A lot of these movements are highlighted on my profile under ā€œrib flareā€ but again if you need an actual program to follow you can get my ā€œLiving Her Best Lifeā€ ebook that's linked in my bio Some notes on this particular exercise: my set up may look different than yours, you're only aiming for a stretch position (nothing overly forced) so you may only need one block to start with (elbow on ground and fist over a flat yoga block) so just play around with it and do what works for you šŸ«¶šŸ¼ . . . . . #mobility #fitness #flexibility #yoga #workout #strength #movement #training #health #physicaltherapy #exercise #crossfit #rehab #mobilitytraining #gym #personaltrainer #stretching #functionaltraining #motivation #physio #wellness #stretch #bodybuilding #fitnessmotivation #stability #physiotherapy #squat #calisthenics #strengthtraining #recovery
4 weeks is the average time that most new yearā€™s resolutions last. Many people lose motivation after not seeing the results they were expecting. My best tip is to educate yourself on the muscle building/weight loss timeline and enter into the journey with the knowledge that it will take time and consistency to see the results you are imagining for yourself. Control your fixation on the results at the beginning and turn your focus to the process: - find a program/trainer that excites you and is sustainability for a long time - surround yourself with people that will support you and keep you accountable - ask questions to professionals (like me!) when you feel stumped or discouraged - track your workouts so you can look back and see how far youā€™ve come even if youā€™re not seeing the visible changes If you want help from someone like me, shoot me a message. I write programs for people of all experience levels and give advice on preventing/managing injuries along the way. #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physio #physiotherapy #onlinephysicaltherapist #onlinephysio #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #fitnesscoach #onlinefitnesscoach #onlinefitness #strength #strengthtraining #strengthandconditioning #strengthcoach #onlinestrengthcoach #newyearsresolution
Full explanation of ankle mobility assessment and matching treatments in this video! Ankle mobility is the first link of the regional interdependence chain as it has a major influence how the rest of lowert kinetic chain is loaded. If ankle mobility is the weak link of your chain, the knee and hip may take on more stress than they should be which can lead to overuse injuries. ASSESSMENT: The knee-to-wall test: Goal: find how far away you can get your foot from the wall while being able to bring your knee to the wall WITHOUT YOUR HEEL COMING UP Common compensations: Foot arch collapse: gaining mobility from midfoot, not ankle Outward rotation of the hip: gaining mobility from the hip, not the ankle Normal measurements: Length of your fist away from the wall Less than 2.5cm difference between sides Interpretation of symptoms: Pressure in the top of the ankle joint: joint mobility deficit Big stretch in the back of your leg: muscular tightness Hip joint/thigh tightness: could be a hip mobility deficit causing pinching sensation or muscle guarding of the hip/thigh musculature CORRECTIVE EXERCISES: Muscular tightness: Stretch: Gastrocnemius and soleus stretch against wall Strength: Deficit calf raises Joint mobility deficit: Stretch: Banded ankle dorsiflexion Strength: Forward stepdown Hip mobility deficit: stay tuned #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #physicaltherapist #physio #physicaltherapystudent #onlinephysicaltherapy #onlinephysicaltherapist #onlinefitnesscoach #anklemobility #anklemobilityassessment #anklemobilityexercises

Whether it's trying to ā€œsuck it inā€ or perhaps even cues given during exercise ā€œpull belly button to spineā€ šŸ‘ˆšŸ¼ and certain cues are helpful to some people, but they can also be harmful to others, so we want to be sure we are vigilant of our abdomen during exercise and we also want to encourage a full 360 breathing pattern. I will never get tired of saying breathing well is always the first place to start on top of everything else. Even if you practice proper breathing, your body might still rely on other muscles for stability due to existing issues in your back or hips. Similarly, working on your posture wonā€™t be effective if your breathing mechanics are off. Therefore it will always be a tug of war so work on: -360 inhale -complete and strong exhale overloading that breath over time -work on mobility: start with the big mobilizers; spine, scapula, hips . . . . . #mobility #fitness #flexibility #yoga #workout #strength #movement #training #health #physicaltherapy #exercise #crossfit #rehab #mobilitytraining #gym #personaltrainer #stretching #functionaltraining #motivation #physio #wellness #stretch #bodybuilding #fitnessmotivation #stability #physiotherapy #squat #calisthenics #strengthtraining #recovery

A STABLE body provides the solid foundation your muscles need to produce maximal force and power while DRASTICALLY reducing your risk of injury As a physical therapist, Iā€™ve come to appreciate the role stability training plays in a personā€™s LONGEVITY in regards to their soft tissue health. The patients with the most significant long-term success are the ones who commit to maintaining their stability training far beyond their time in physical therapy with me. Itā€™s something that has to be practiced every week in addition to the normal fitness routine Each personā€™s stability routine is highly individualized so unfortunately I canā€™t tell you exactly what you need or where you should start but I highly encourage you to explore different stability programs and/or get evaluated by someone who can meet you where youā€™re at to get you on the right program. If you want me to be that person for you, feel free to contact me and I will explain what I offer! #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #physio #physiotherapist #onlinephysicaltherapist #onlinephysio #fitness #fitnesstips #fitnesscoach #stability #stabilitytraining #gymtips #strengthtips #strengthandconditioning
