Want to know a secret? 🤫 A successful punch volley doesn’t involve a big, out-of-control backswing. 🔑 The key to a great punch volley is keeping your swing compact and tight in front of your body! This gives you both power and control. Should I share a side-by-side comparison? Are your dinks popping up too high?? There are a few reasons this might be happening, so we will spend the next few weeks talking about each. But for today, we’re going to talk about one of the MOST common reasons: you’re bending your wrist instead of using your shoulder as a lever! It’s a pretty simple adjustment that will have a huge impact on how your dinks look and feel! Any guesses on other reasons why your dinks might be popping up? • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
Struggling to keep your dinks low? Let’s fix that! 👇 Here are some common reasons your dinks might be popping up: ❌ Bending your wrist ❌ Gripping your paddle too tightly ❌ Standing too straight (“Tin Man” posture) ❌ Leaning backward on your heels ❌ Making contact with the ball behind your body/big backswing 👆 That last one is our focus today. So, how can you fix it? ✅ Focus on your follow through NOT your backswing ✅ Footwork is key: Stay on your toes and keep moving. Good footwork helps you position yourself behind the ball more consistently. (Check out my footwork drill posts for tips!) ✅ Neutral paddle position: Maintain a solid ready position so you can anticipate where the ball is going. Think proactive, not reactive. ✅ Prepare for the next shot: Instead of admiring your last shot (no matter how great it was), get ready for what’s coming back. Stay in the moment and be ready to respond. Which dinking mistake are you guilty of? And what should I break down next? Want to take your game to the next level? Here’s a simple way to start: 👇 Letting your dinks bounce isn’t always a bad thing. But if you want to catch your opponent off guard and speed up the game, try taking some of those dinks out of the air instead! Just be cautious about overreaching for your dinks. In these examples, you’ll see the ball bouncing right on or just behind the line—a perfect opportunity to take it out of the air. Of course, there are times when slowing the game down is the better strategy, so letting your dink bounce can still be effective in the right situation. What’s your approach? Are you ready to change the way you return a lob? A successful lob doesn’t usually score the point, but what it does is get you (or your opponent) out of position for the next shot. So what can you do to combat this?? I’m explaining the simple trick to set yourself up for success after returning a lob! What if I told you one of the fastest ways to improve your pickleball game is by simply moving your feet more? 🤯 I know what you’re thinking: “There’s no way I look like the example on the right…” But here’s the tough truth — for many of you, that’s exactly how it looks when you’re playing. It’s like your feet are stuck in wet concrete! Now for the good news: this is an easy fix! With time and practice, you can break the habit. Once you retrain your brain to keep your feet moving and focus on getting behind the ball, you’ll feel like a completely different player. Ready to take your game to the next level? Want to know the secret to being a boss on the court?? 💪 Take these wise words from my mom… Kill and then kill AGAIN! No more running away from the hard shots! Is this something you struggle with? Are you guilty of watching your shot instead of getting in position for your next shot?? BE HONEST! Here’s your friendly reminder to always get your paddle back to a ready position in between each of your shots. It will seriously improve your reaction time greatly! To drill it into your mind (or retrain your brain) TRY THIS! • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
Can you spot the difference between these two videos? 🛑 STOP! Watch the clip a few times before reading on. Okay, welcome back! Now that you’ve watched it, you probably noticed one looks off and the other looks right. Let’s break it down: What’s wrong in the first video? ❌ Paddle looks more like a shovel than a paddle ❌ Contacting the ball behind my body ❌ Paddle facing up = ball popping up ❌ Not moving my feet What should you do instead? ✅ Paddle facing out ✅ “Broken wrist” position ✅ Moving my feet to get into position I’m planning to do more of these side-by-side comparisons. What do you think of this format? Let me know in the comments—I’d love your feedback! • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok @Spencer Pratt
I get tons of DMs asking how to transition smoothly between forehand and backhand. The key is drilling and getting in those reps! This drill is a great way to build the habit of bringing your paddle to a neutral position. Don’t worry if it feels a little silly at first—your opponent will be the one feeling silly when you’re returning all their shots! Happy Friday! What are your pickleball plans this weekend? • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
Watch these two examples and pay close attention to my paddle positioning. Can you spot the difference? If not, don’t worry — that’s why I’m here! In the first clip, after hitting my shot, I left my paddle where it was and watched my opponent receive the ball. By the time their shot came back to me, my paddle was still out of position, and I couldn’t move it across my body quickly enough to return the shot. In the second clip, I brought my paddle back to the ready position between every shot. This allowed me to react faster and stay prepared! Struggling with “fast hands”? This might be the reason! Share this with someone who’s trying to improve their reaction time — or save it for yourself! • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
Are You Getting Targeted with Lobs? Let’s break down why this might be happening: 👇 1️⃣ Your overhead is weak 2️⃣ You’re on your heels at the NVZ line 3️⃣ You’re short 🙈 (Harsh, but it’s often true!) Now, here’s the important part—how can we fix it? ⭐️ Improve your overhead! I’ve got tons of videos covering overhead form, technique, and common mistakes. Check them out, then get out there and practice! ⭐️ Adjust your positioning. If your opponent has already tried lobbing you, stand a foot back from the NVZ line to prepare. ⭐️ Stay on your toes! This isn’t just for dealing with lobs—it’s a key habit for all aspects of your game. 😉 ⭐️ Height hack? 😜😂 Kidding! You’re perfect as you are, and you can absolutely thrive in this game regardless of your height. When you get lobbed, is it because of 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣? Let me know! Let me ask you a question: When you're trying to add more power to your shot, what's the first thing that comes to mind? If your answer is "swinging harder" or "taking a bigger backswing," it's time to rethink that strategy! Watch this video to save yourself some time (and maybe even your elbows!). 🚫 Do NOT — I repeat, DO NOT — take a bigger backswing to add more power. That's not how it works. Let’s break down why this approach doesn't help and, more importantly, what you should do to pack more power into your swing. What are some other common misconceptions you've seen on the court that I can help debunk? Drop them in the comments! • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
Want faster hands? Try THIS drill! ✅ Grab a partner ✅ Stand on each side of the net ✅ Hit the ball forehand to forehand 20 times ✅ Hit the ball forehand to backhand 20 times ✅ Hit the ball backhand to forehand 20 times ✅ Hit the ball backhand to backhand 20 times It’s such a simple drill, but there is so much power in repetition. You WILL notice a difference in your shots if you do this drill regularly. I’m a pro and I do this with other players ALL THE TIME. Your reaction time WILL feel sharper, and your hands WILL be faster! ✨Tag a partner you want to try this drill with and SHARE this post to spread some fast hands love! Happy playing! 😁 • • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
🎥👀 Look closely at these two videos—can you spot the difference? It’s subtle, so pay attention! 👉 On the left, I’m doing a short hop dink—a defensive shot meant to slow the game down. 👉 On the right, I’m stepping off the line, focusing more on precision and power, aiming to get my opponent to pop their dink up so I can execute a speedup. At first glance, these shots might look similar, but they serve very different purposes. 🤔 Are you putting this kind of thought into your shots, or are you just trying to survive and make it to the next one? No wrong answer, but if you want to level up your game, start recognizing these differences and applying them when you play! Which shot do you use more often? Let me know in the comments! And if you’re ready to elevate your game, save this post for your next practice session! 🙌 • • • • • • • #pickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleballer #pickleballwarmup #pickleballtips #pickleballshots #pickleballtechnique #pickleballaddiction #pickleballusa #pickleballislife #pickleballtiktok #pickleballtiktoks #pickleballtok
