If we are running around in a high stress mode our sympathetic nervous system is always on.
 This is our “flight or fight” part of our nervous system.
 This causes elevated cortisol by design as our body thinks we need to be able to fight.
 Cortisol raises our blood pressure, our sugar (so we store extra as fat in our belly) and heart rate (can cause racing heart).
 Unfortunately, when we are in this constant mode we have these symptoms on top of poor digestion.
 When cortisol is elevated our digestive enzymes are reduce which can cause a whole host of other problems like poor absorption of nutrients, poor detoxification, and bacteria overgrowth to name a few.
 We have a receptor for cortisol on every cell in our body and that’s why when we have high levels it affects everything.
 HERE Is the KICKER. When we move into menopause, the ovaries stop producing hormones and your adrenals glands need to take over.  So if we are having a dysregulated cortisol it can make our menopause experience that much more difficult.
