A man and his dog were rescued from a sailboat by a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) swimmer near Port Townsend Wednesday morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO). Shortly before 7 a.m., a passerby called 911 to report a man in distress struggling to navigate his sailboat in strong winds near the Larry Scott trail. The JCSO said the man and his dog were stranded with waves crashing around them after their boat ran aground.
