A big part of the work we do at Deaf Counseling Center is de-stigmatizing mental health issues and experiences. One that we wish more people understood is postpartum depression (PPD). PPD is a mental health condition that sometimes affects parents after a baby is born. It can create feelings of sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion, all of which combine to make it extremely difficult to function. Research shows that 1 in 7 mothers experience PPD, but it can also affect fathers and adoptive parents. For women, hormonal changes, particularly drops in estrogen and progesterone after giving birth, seem to trigger these symptoms. Thank you, Kelsey, for normalizing and opening up about your experience with PPD. #postpartumdepressionawareness #ppd Est. 2001. Deaf Women Owned. PPD/PPA sucks but then I look at these 5 and realize everyday is worth living for ❤️ #postpartum #postpartumdepressionawareness
✨ The Journey of a Lifetime ✨ 2021: Over 50+lbs overweight, wondering if I’d ever feel good in my own skin again. 2022: Found my strength and lost 52lbs, feeling empowered and unstoppable. 2023: Pregnant with Maddie, gaining 60lbs to nourish her and embracing every moment of creating life. 2024: Navigating postpartum, losing 51lbs, battling postpartum depression and anxiety, and overcoming breastfeeding challenges. Postpartum hasn’t been easy. I struggled with depression and anxiety, sleepless nights, and the emotional toll of being an under-producer due to a previous surgery. I gained 25lbs trying to keep up my supply, but I’d do it all over again for my sweet girl. This journey has taught me so much—about resilience, patience, and gratitude. Our bodies are INCREDIBLE. They create, sustain, and protect life, even when we don’t feel strong enough to handle it all. Madison, you are my why. Through every tear, every triumph, and every tough moment, you’ve shown me what true love and purpose feel like. To every mom out there facing postpartum struggles, please know you’re not alone. Your journey is valid, and your body is doing its best—just like you are. Here’s to embracing the messy, magical beauty of motherhood. ❤️ What a wild ride these past 3 years have been and I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings! #PostpartumJourney #PostpartumDepressionAwareness #BreastfeedingStruggles #TransformationJourney #FitnessAndMotherhood #newyear #happy2025 #postpartumweightloss #postpartumweightlossjourney #newyear2025
