As an AuDHDer, my brain is filled with all of the most overwhelming feelings and thoughts. During any change, I shut down, I turn in, I go quiet. I struggle to understand my own brain and what it is trying to process. I feel it happening with this TikTok ban.  I’m terrified, and wish I had all the answers of what to do right now. Inside, I just want to run away. That’s my AuDHD. My brain just turns off. 😩 It’s been turned off because it does that when it doesn’t have solid answers. Now that it does, it just wants to hide until everything is over and then rebuild everything from scratch.  But I’ve done too much to get this far and help SO MANY. I have so many plans too - books, workbooks I’ve been working on, guides, pamphlets for drs… but like I said, my brain has been turned off while we’ve been in the time of “unknown”. But I’m going to try and push myself to get on top of everything, push my other platform (YT - @chronicallyemilly — I will be posting on it starting this week!) Replying to @Sara Flat out refusal to learn about conditions, what we’re going through, perform proper tests, prescribe necessary hormones, or even just LISTEN to us.  The female Dr I saw yesterday refused to understand me or my knowledge of my body and what I am experiencing. She said, “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, I know about PMDD”(which she quickly proved she did NOT know much at all about it 😒) and also said “women’s body’s aren’t prioritized and that’s just how women’s health is,” in response to me saying it’s ridiculous my only option for proper hormones is paying out of pocket. Replying to @SpiritChiII Women/AFAB are conditioned to believe their suffering is normal: ‘Periods are supposed to hurt,’ ‘Motherhood is supposed to be hard,’ ‘Hormones make you dramatic.’ This mindset is deadly. PMDD is real, and so is the harm caused by dismissing it.  This rhetoric goes right along with patriarchal biases in medicine—teaching women it’s ‘just hormones’ and they should keep suffering. Postpartum depression? ‘Welcome to motherhood. Here’s Zoloft, go make dinner.’ Endometriosis? ‘Pain is normal, take Advil.’ PMDD? ‘Deal with it.’ Women have lost their lives because of this dismissal.
