She now had 3 personal pigs (Aries, Luke, everest) and 2 (Gracie, nova) her family helps care for 🫶🏻. In 2023, we lost pickles at 5. In 2024 we lost Joe at 9, and 3 months later mylo at 6. Cappy was left alone for the first time in his life and bonded with Aries. Things in my personal life helped me decide to rehome my girl trio as that was best for them. I redid their enclosures with the new bonds. Aries and cappy were close, but nothing compared to mylo and Joe. He joined them a few days into the new year, just 3 months after mylo passed. He was reunited with his boys at 6 years old, they were inseparable from the start. Aries and everest will hopefully bond, as the bond with Luke broke. Not all hay racks are the same. Petstore ones are generally too small and will restrict their hay intake. Those are unsafe. However, large hay racks and hay bags DO exist. Guinea pigs naturally like to forage and burrow in their hay, so always accompany your methods with a pile. I’ve seen way too many people hating on others who use SAFE racks/bags, claiming they’re not providing proper care and that they’re unhappy. I personally use racks to ensure they constantly have a supply of fresh hay. They have their piles still but since they soil them so quickly I don’t want that being their only hay source. I clean the soiled hay daily and replenish with more ontop. When you’re using a method like I’ve shown you’re not restricting their hay nor is it neglect.
