Spotted: A Philodendron White Princess casually flexing its pink variegation amongst a batch of “regular” White Princesses. While pink leaves on a White Princess isn’t groundbreaking or uncommon, finding one like this makes you feel lucky. It’s still the kind of thing that gets plant people leaning in for a closer look. Plant enthusiasts everywhere actually hunt for these in stores! I can’t help but wonder—when are the growers going to crack the code and give us a Philodendron that’s consistently pink, white, and green? Maybe we call it the Philodendron Princess Tricolor. 🤔 Just an idea. 😉 What plant do you want to see? Personally, I’m waiting on a Pink variegated Monstera Deliciosa. Any ideas? But California is also covered in suburban sprawl with cookie cutter homes that have invasive Bradford pears and grass lawns. Rocklin California is a classic example of land that used to be old growth oaks and is now cement and strip malls. And now the mayor and one rich developer that owns native land want to turn the 600 acres at clover valley into 50 luxury home estates. This is not only unsustainable but it is also is not gonna help the housing crisis by building more rich unaffordable homes. Clover valley is the last intact native old growth oak forest in Rocklin that is also home endangered chinook salmon and steelhead trout. Along with many beaver dams. We are running out of time. We only have a month to save clover valley from being logged and destroyed for rich homes. This one is a crawler, not a climber, which is why I use horizontal planters. The plant grows along the ground and will grow new roots as each new node touches the soil. Pretty neat! For curious minds, I did create holes in the breastmilk storage containers for drainage. He said in his experience, the leaf melt can happen when watering is inconsistent. I was not great with keeping up with watering, so with the clear pot transfer, I’ve been so much better at it along with putting it under a grow light.
