Furniture flipping for beginners!! Tired of your old furniture? Again this is the best way to keep the amazing quality of old pieces but with a modern look! Found this table in FB marketplace and I loved the simplicity of it! Definitely a more modern style but changing the legs we were able to give it a more rustic look. We started by sanding 100% of this piece and I used two colors to achieve this finish. First I applied our RAW WASH color ( 2 coats )and after applying with a sponge and let it dry for 24 hours this piece was ready for a second color. I used driftwood oil base stain by minwax to give it just a tiny bit of color after raw wash neutralized all the colors mango wood shows after sanding (yellow, orange, brown). I also did two coats of driftwood and let it dry for a couple days. Remember oil base stains take way longer to dry than a paint wash. I also used my favorite top coat by Behr paints (water base matte polyurethane) and I also sanded in between coats of top coat using my 320 grit sanding block to make sure my surface was smooth to the touch. This step is very important if you want your work to look like it was professionally done. As you can see on this table we have two raw wood tones, the edges are very dark compared to the rest of the table and this is the reason why I decided to neutralize my wood first using Ash Wash paint to create my paint wash (WOODANDHOMEACCENTS.COM) and then I used Java brown by rustoleum to go a little darker and get a more even color. Found this table on FB marketplace for $50 . Let’s give it an update !! I started sanding 100% of the old finish to take it back to its raw wood . Then I spray some water to help my paint wash application to be smooth and avoid overlap marks. I used our ash wash paint to create my paint wash. You can find this color on my website Woodandhomeaccents.com. I did 1/4 Ratio (paint/water ) because the wood was very pale and I did not want to cover the wood grain. After my color was fully dry I applied my favorite top coat by @behrpaint (water base matte polyurethane). This table sold in less than 24 hours . If you have any question about the process leave it in the comments down below ⬇️ ————- Encontré esta mesa en fb marketplace y como no comprarla si era madera sólida y tenia un estilo muy en tendencia así que decidí darle unos retoques. Comencé lijándola completamente y luego use mi color Ash Wash para lograr este tono . Recuerda que puedes conseguirlo en mi página Woodandhomeaccents.com . Mezcle mi pintura y use una proporción de 1 medida de pintura x 4 de agua para lograr una mezcla que dejara ver el grano de la madera y a la ves dale un poco de color a esta madera que de por si era muy pálida. Cuando la mezcla está completamente seca ya es hora de el sello . Yo utilice behr matte water base polyurethane. Massive cabinet makeover part 2 Finally done with this piece that took us 4 months to complete. Sanding was definitely the reason why it took so long but all the pain and time were worth everything after seen this stunning results!! We used our color RAW WASH (Woodandhomeaccents.com) And the wood stain driftwood by @minwaxusa we also found these amazing laminate sheets by @wilsonart and now we want to use them in many other projects !! We went with their color DRAMA. We love it!! This cabinet is now in our living room but it would also look great as a kitchen cabinet. What do you think ? Working on non wood furniture can be a little tricky! I usually start sanding with 120 grit to avoid damaging my piece. The top was damage because I left the dresser outside and that night we got a lot of rain and in the morning we realized the top was a total loss 😞. But we decided to build a solid wood top and it ended up looking so much better than the original!! We used two of our colors RAW WASH and our new color DARK WASH now available on our website Woodandhomeaccents.com. I did not wipe off raw wash because I wanted to neutralize the colors the dresser was showing after the sanding process. I did wipe off Dark Wash because I was going for a light color but you can leave it if you want to go even darker. I used my favorite top coat By Behr paints in a matte finish. And I did a light sanding at the end using 320 or higher grit to get a super smooth finish. ———— Trabajando en muebles que no son de madera sólida. Esta cajonera fue un verdadero desafío ya que para lijar y no dañar la superficie tuve que ser muy cuidadosa por lo que comencé lijando con un grano 120 todo salió muy bien con el lijado hasta que se me ocurrió dejar este mueble afuera y sin saberlo esa noche tuvimos@mucha lluvia. Y ya en la mañana cuando me di cuenta ella cubierta estaba completamente arruinada!! 😠 así que bueno construimos una nueva pero esta ves de madera sólida. Usamos 2 de nuestros colores para lograr este color RAW WASH Y DARK WASH . El segundo es nuestro nuevo color y ya está disponible en nuestra página Woodandhomeaccents.com. Luego de aplicar estos tonos sellamos un par de veces con Behr matte polyurethane.
