These days, you can find me out on a cold hike, making my way to icy water. This is my fourth year living in a van, and my fourth year doing these cold plunges. I first started after being inspired by @Iceman Wim Hof. I was blown away that someone could get into freezing water and be totally fine afterward. I donā€™t own a cold plunge system and only do this in the winter. It just feels more natural that way. When I first started, my mind was in complete chaos on the hike out. As dramatic as it sounds, I would constantly doubt my survival, tell myself it didnā€™t make sense, and do anything to talk myself out of actually getting in. Once I reached the water, those doubts, fears, and worries only got louder. Every piece of clothing I took off made my mind freak out more and more. With one foot in the water, my mind would show me extreme scenariosā€”hypothermia, hospital visits, even saying goodbye to loved ones in a hospital bed. It took everything I had to ignore those terrible thoughts. The funny thing is, every time I pushed through and got in, everything in my head went silent. An extreme calm came over my body, and a wave of peace and confidence took over my mind. Donā€™t get me wrongā€”there have been plenty of times over the years when I gave in and didnā€™t go through with it. That still happens. But thereā€™s something powerful and healing about this practice. It teaches you to control your mind and recognize that sometimes your thoughts give you false information. Over four years and literally hundreds of cold plunges later, I havent been to the hospital once!! Iā€™ve learned many lessons from this. My favorite lesson is figuring out which thoughts are truth and which are just an ancient survival response. Over the years, Iā€™ve sharpened this filter, and I use it all the time in other parts of my life. SIDE NOTE: Please do not read this and then jump into a frozen pond by yourself. Life lessons aside, this is very dangerous and should only be attempted after proper, continuous training. A good place to start is by downloading Wim Hofā€™s app and learning his breathing exercises. These not only help with cold water exposure, but can benefit many other aspects of your life. Stay safe and be well friend ā¤ļø #seeklife #vanlife #adventure #Vlog #coldwatertherapy #coldwater #earth #vanlifetravel

Lately Iā€™ve been trying really hard to find different mushrooms while on hikes. I love the different colors and sometimes odd places they find themselves in. #seeklife #vanlife #vanlifetravel #adventure

This past weekend a perfect winter storm came through the Ozarks. If you know me well enough, you know that I love winter and I can't resist cold water. I had a feeling this storm was going to be a perfect opportunity to take my dog Margo out on an epic adventure and see how far we could push it. We hiked for miles through a snow-painted forest in below freezing temperatures and then got in the river. It honestly felt like a dream. Margo is only semi-recently off leash so seeing her fly through the forest was just pure and beautiful. These photos are a few stills from the little short film I made of this adventure. It started as something just for fun, and then turned into something I am really proud of. I should have it done here in a day or so and will post it for you. #seeklife #vanlife #husky #huskylife #huskysoftiktok #coldwater #coldwatertherapy #adventure #winterstorm #snowstorm
The past few months I have been working with Jazz more and more. It's got me really into listening to some of my favorite records like Amy Winehouse's Frank, Laufey's Bewitched and really anything from Tony Bennett. To me it is one of the great arts that is perfectly suited to this room. The other day I setup my camera in random places during different stages of mixing this record. The audio is just the camera audio, but I thought it still captured the vibe of the room well. The power of using all the analog gear and getting to stay away from the computer while working on music is truly special. It forces me to listen in a totally different way and move my body when I want to change something in the music. Of course any music can be done in this space, so if you are wanting to work on some of your own music, shoot me a message. It would be a great time getting to work with my friends on here ā¤ļø #seeklife #recordingstudio #recordingengineer #jazz #laufey #tonybennett #ssl #mixengineer #vanlife
